July 6, 2016Safe Summer Swimming For Acne Prone Skin
July 6, 2016If you are acne prone, shaving can be tricky business. Proper shaving habits are crucial to avoid new breakouts, ingrown hairs, and irritation. Many men prefer to use an electric shaver, but unfortunately electric shavers are a sure way to trigger acne fast. Just the shavers alone can harbor and spread bacteria easily. Think about it, if you shave over an active blemish it can easily open up and disperse the bacteria elsewhere. Not a good idea! Electric shavers are also notorious for causing ingrown hairs as well. What is the sign your electric shaver is wreaking havoc on your skin? Take a look at the area you shave including your neck. If you see any blemishes and you use an electric shaver this may be your culprit.
A better option for shaving acne prone skin is using a nothing fancy shaving blade. Since most common shaving blades have lubricated and moisturizing strips containing pore clogging ingredients that can trigger a breakout, you need to pay close attention. A simple way to avoid this trigger is to purchase single or double disposable blades with no lubricating strips, see what we mean by nothing fancy? Also, use an acne safe cleanser that does not contain any pore clogging ingredients as a shaving gel. This will help to lubricate the skin as well as soothe the pores. Finally, make sure to shave in the same direction as the hair growth to avoid any ingrown hairs. After shaving, make sure to do another cleanse and then follow with the rest of your daily regimen.
